Mission Statement:
The Mission of Denver Botanic Gardens is to connect people with plants, especially plants from the Rocky Mountain region and similar regions around the world, providing delight and enlightenment to everyone.
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
Our conservation programs play a mojor role in saving species and protecting natural habitats for future generations.
Program History:
Located in the middle of the Mile High City, Denver Botanic Gardens was one of the first gardens in the country to emphasize native plants and to champion environmentally responsible practices, such as water conservation and biological control of pests. Most of all, Denver Botanic Gardens offers spectacular plant displays, unlimited opportunities for lifelong learning and research that help preserve Colorado's precious natural resources.
Events:
Denver Botanic Gardens has a full calendar of special events throughout the year, including Blossoms of Light, Spring Plant Sale, Pumpkin Festival, Plant Discovery Days, Free Days, Summer Concerts, and Corn Maze. Both Adult and Children's Educational classes are available throughout the year.
Additional Information:
The Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield is currently seeking volunteers for the Pumpkin Festival. The festival will take place on Saturday, October 8th and Sunday, October 9th at our Chatfield location in Littleton. We have both morning and afternoon positions available each day. This is a great family event, which draws families from the entire Metro area to Chatfield to select that perfect pumpkin. This event is held at our Chatfield location at 8500 West Deer Creek Canyon Road, Littleton, CO 80128.
Volunteer positions include entrance cashiers, pumpkin measuring, children's activities and games, pumpkin daycare attendants, soda/water booth attendants, and more! Volunteers can log onto our on-line registration system at:
This will enable them to view all of the available times and positions for the Festival. If you have some cashiering experience, we especially need volunteers to sign up for the Entrance Cashier positions. These entrance cashiers will be accepting admission fees to the festival. They will be handling cash or credit card transactions at the admissions gates for the festival. This position is a top priority for us, and we would greatly appreciate your help!
Please feel free to call Karyn Chaffin, Pumpkin Festival Volunteer Coordinator at 720 865-3565 or volcoord@botanicgardens.org for any additional information you may need.
