Mission Statement:

Established in 1985, The Florida Literacy Coalition (FLC) promotes, supports and advocates for the effective delivery of quality adult and family literacy services in the state of Florida.

As a statewide umbrella literacy organization and the host of Florida’s State Literacy Resource Center, FLC provides a range of services to support more than 300 adult education, literacy and family literacy providers throughout Florida. Special emphasis is placed on assisting community based literacy organizations with their training and program development needs.

Additional Information:

You can make a difference in someone’s life by giving the gift of literacy. Each year, thousands of Floridians give back to their communities by tutoring an adult. Tutors and other program volunteers are an important part of the literacy field in Florida. This section will provide you with information on how to get started and what you might expect when becoming a literacy tutor.

www.floridaliteracy.org, where you will find a link on the left hand side that reads "Become a Literacy Volunteer", and then "Directory of Volunteer Opportunities". Once you are on that page, select the county where you’d like to volunteer, this will generate a list of locations in your county that are in need of volunteers. Once you get in contact with those organizations, they will be able to provide proper training and instruction.
