Volunteering at The Franklin Institute is a great way to get involved in this fun filled, interactive Museum. By contributing time and expertise, you can learn something new, help others, and most of all
have fun! The success of many of our programs depends directly on the efforts of our volunteers.
The Franklin Institute has an exciting volunteer program both behind the scenes and working with the visitors. Every year more than 500 people give their time to the Institute. They give demonstrations, explain exhibits, answer visitors’ questions, assist with school groups, work in the administrative offices, help in the Museum store, and assist with special events and exhibits. Additional opportunities may be available; we will work with you to match your special skills with the needs of the Institute.
VOLUNTEER BENEFITS:
· Free admission to the Museum, Planetarium, and IMAX Theater during public hours with your identification badge
· Discounts in Museum store and restaurant
· Free Museum Family Membership for year-round volunteers who fulfill the 80 hour requirement
and maintain active volunteer status
· Transportation reimbursement or parking validation when volunteering
· Invitations to special programs and events
· Contribute your skills. Learn something new. Make new friends
HOW CAN YOU BE A PART OF THE FRANKLIN INSTITUTE?
· Volunteers must be at least 15 years of age; our most senior volunteer is 95
· You should enjoy working with people
· Have an interest in promoting science education
· Volunteers should be willing to commit to a minimum of 80 hours of service through weekly volunteering. Volunteer shifts are a minimum of 4 hours.
Placement in the program is by interview only. The first step is to complete the enclosed application and return it to the Volunteer Office. You should then contact the Volunteer Office at 215-448-1163 or volprog@fi.edu, to arrange an interview.
