Mission Statement:
OUR PHILOSOPHY FOR OUR MISSIONS:
Where Freedom Means Sacrifice and Freedom Endures
Where our Heroes are Supported Without Conditions
Where each and every serviceman and woman has served us with honor
no matter what decisions our leaders make as they serve with courage
and faith in our freedoms and principles.
Where Americans will never forget 9-11-2001 and remember
what it means still to so many .
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
Homefront Hugs believes that our troops, their families and veterans should never be forgotten because of their silent and humble
sacrifices for our freedoms and safety since our nation began.
Where we can be a resource, a support, a morale boost, a comfort to those who serve- Homefront Hugs volunteers will be there.
Our missions are simple- support and help those who have agreed to make the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms and safety in whatever way we can and reach out to their loved ones while they are deployed.
Our wounded heroes who have come back can depend on Homefront Hugs to be there as long as they need us in whatever manner is best for them and to find resources when we cannot meet the needs ourselves.
Program History:
Homefront Hugs was established after 9-11 with the support of 9-11 victims who wanted to thank and support our troops being deployed and help us still today. Homefront Hugs grew into a larger public charity as the needs of the troops, their families, the wounded and our veterans from all wars grew. Today Homefront Hugs serves thousands of troops deployed and wounded- as well as military families needing crisis intervention and support. Homefront Hugs was founded by crisis intervention and special needs ounselor and educator Alessandra Kellermann who holds two degrees from Boston UIniversity ( Education Specialist) and University of Michigan- ANN ARBOR in Psychology.
Her interest is in instilling volunteerism in the youngest of our generations, emphasizing diversity and inclusion, and making certain no citizen is left out of the opportunity to give back and thank our heroes regardless of age, race, gender, religion, or ability or disability.
Homefront Hugs also provides disaster relief due to the numerous hurricanes they sustained themselves amidst a huge miltary base area
over the past five years. Because disasters affect our military families while their loved ones are deployed, and our military has been courageous and there for citizens- saving lives- during these disasters- this has become a natural arm of Homefront Hugs missions.
Homefront Hugs has received the 2008 Four Chaplains Award- Legion of Honor for its inclusion and strengthn in diversity, and the national first prize for volunteering from the Points of Light Foundation in 2007.
