Mission Statement:

We are passionate about the quality of aging. The services we provide support health, individuality and dignity. Our mission is lifecare.

Program History:

The Volunteer Support Program officially began February 2006 in the Manhattan Homecare sub division of Community Services and became of part of all sub divisions of Community Servcies January 2009.

Events:

May 2006 and now annually volunteers are celebrated at the Volunteer Recognition ceremony. This year December 18, 2009 Volunteer Holiday Party will honor the volunteers with a luncheon. This will continue every year.

Visit a home-bound senior and enrich their lives through conversation, reading, playing chess or cards, or simply taking walks with them.
 
You can help them with small errands, visit with a trained dog or join our workshops on learning how to train seniors to use their home computers. 
 
Volunteers are supported by a professional team of social workers and nurses and are invited to participate in our series of monthly seminars on the health care system, social policy issues and geriatrics.
