Mission Statement:
Fighting hunger, feeding hope: Second Harvest brings community resources together to feed people in need through empowerment, education and partnerships.
Program History:
Second Harvest (then the Spokane Food Bank) was founded in 1971 as a central warehouse for a handful of emergency food pantries. Since then, Second Harvest has grown into a streamlined warehouse operation that provides food to partner charities serving 21 counties in Eastern Washington and five counties in North Idaho - just over 51,000 square miles.
Events:
Help the Hungry Warehouse Nights - Every Monday and Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Join up to 30 community volunteers in sorting and boxing produce and food drive items.
Letter Carriers Food Drive - More than 150 volunteers are needed for this community food drive in May, 2011.
Season of Giving Food Drive - December, 2011 - School are encouraged to participate by hosting their own food drives.

Volunteers must be 14 and older to participate in warehouse volunteer activities. Please dress according to the weather as the warehouse can be quite cool.
