Philosophy/Belief Statement:

Teen-Aiders is a philanthropic organization providing Lake County, Illinois teens (called Teen-Aiders) with a coordinated program to educate them about the realities of child homelessness in our community. Teen-Aiders runs two ten-week programs each year during the Spring and Fall. The teen volunteers will conceptualize and implement a fundraiser for this cause while being guided by our Adult Mentors. To help the teens build awareness and appreciation for the importance of the cause that they are supporting, they will also participate in volunteer activities in the community, such as working in a soup kitchen and interacting with those children who are in need of our aid.

Program History:

Teen-Aiders is true to its name: it is comprised of teens looking to provide aid to others. The program volunteers are comprised of young adults, ages 13 to 18, who the program hopes to inspire to “make a difference” in their community. The teen volunteers will learn an awareness and appreciation for their own fortunes, both financial and familial, and will develop a spirit of volunteerism and activism, which can be valuable throughout their lifetimes.
