Mission Statement:

Comfort Zone provides grieving children with a voice, a place, and a community in which to heal, grow, and lead more fulfilling lives.

Philosophy/Belief Statement:

Comfort Zone envisions a world where grieving children are not forgotten or left to grieve alone, and are supported by a wide community that understands and appreciates them.

Program History:

Comfort Zone Camp was founded in 1998 in Richmond, VA. Our camp program was born out of a desire to provide a caring community and safe haven in which children who are grieving the loss of a parent, sibling, or guardian are heard, understood, and taught healthy ways to process their grief. We are powered by our campers and their ability to help each other heal, employees who are highly devoted to our mission, dedicated volunteers from the communities (and beyond!) where our camps are located, and generous donors who have been brought to us through their own personal experiences of loss, or because they simply believe in our mission. Since 1999, Comfort Zone has served over 11,000 campers.

Events:

Comfort Zone Camp offers one-day and three-day programs to campers age 5-25, and are held year-round across the country. We have offices in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Virginia, and North Carolina.

Comfort Zone is powered by our tremendous volunteer base. Volunteers from our local communities (and beyond!) are a key ingredient in both the success of the children who come to our programs and in keeping our programs free of charge to all who attend. All volunteers are thoroughly screened and must submit to background checks and 6 hours of training. Regardless of where your volunteer interests lie, you can be sure that you are about to join a truly motivated, supportive and generous volunteer community.
