Bronx High School of Science
The Bronx High School of Science, commonly called Bronx Science, is a public high school in the Bedford Park section of the Bronx, New York City. Founded in 1938 with a traditional focus on mathematics and science, Bronx Science is one of a triumvirate of elite public schools in New York City, and is often hailed as one of the best high schools in the United States. The school is operated by the New York City Department of Education.

Brooklyn Latin School
Brooklyn Latin School is a new specialized high school that has yet to be opened in New York City. Since it is a specialized high school, one must pass the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT) in order to be admitted to the school.

Brooklyn Technical High School
Brooklyn Technical High School, commonly called Brooklyn Tech, is a New York City public high school that specializes in engineering, math and science. Together with Stuyvesant High School and Bronx High School of Science, it is one of three original specialized science high schools, operated by the New York City Department of Education

Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts
The school holds classes from grade 5 to 12 and requires students to apply as if going for a job in the field of their desired "major concentration". Majors taught in the school are Art, Communication Arts, Dance, Theater Arts and Music

Clarkson School's Bridging Year
The Clarkson School's Bridging Year is a unique "bridging year" between high school and college for students who are ready to enter college early, offered by The Clarkson School (a special division of Clarkson University). Every year 50 to 80 11th grade students are accepted to The Clarkson School, where they work towards a GED and take college classes. After they complete the program, they are given the option to enter Clarkson University as a sophomore.

Early College at Guilford
The Early College at Guilford (ECG) is an advanced placement honors school with approximately 180 students. It is a public school in the Guilford County school system; however, it practices rigorous selection methods for admissions. To join, one must apply both to the Early College as well as Guilford College, and pass both admissions committees.

High School for Math, Science and Engineering at City College
The High School for Math, Science and Engineering at City College (often abbreviated to HSMSE) is one of the eight specialized high schools in New York City. To get in, students must take the same Specialized High Schools Admissions Test that students take to get into Stuyvesant High School. It is a new school created in 2002, with an emphasis on engineering.

High School of American Studies at Lehman College
The High School of American Studies at Lehman College, commonly called HSAS, "American Studies" or "Lehman" , is one of eight specialized high schools in New York City. Since it is a specialized high school, one must pass the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT) in order to be admitted to the school.

Manhasset High School
Manhasset High School is a four-year public high school located in Manhasset, at 200 Memorial Place, in Nassau County, New York on the North Shore of Long Island. It is currently ranked 69th in the nation by Newsweek Magazine in its listing of America's Top 1,200 High Schools

Queens High School for the Sciences at York College
The Queens High School for the Sciences at York College (QHSSYC) is one of the seven specialized high schools in New York City which admit students based on their scores on the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test, along with Stuyvesant, Brooklyn Technical High School, Bronx High School of Science, High School for Math, Science and Engineering at City College, American Studies, and Staten Island Technical High School. Queens High School for the Sciences is a small school with only about 400 students or so.

Staten Island Technical High School
Staten Island Technical High School (or Staten Island Tech) is one of the eight specialized public high schools in New York City. It is located in the New Dorp section of Staten Island. The school is operated by the New York City Department of Education.

Stuyvesant High School
Stuyvesant High School, commonly Stuy, is a New York City public high school that specializes in math and science. The school opened in 1904 on Manhattan's East Side and moved to a new building in Battery Park City in 1992. The school is noted for its famous alumni, including four Nobel laureates, its strong academic programs, and the large percentage of its graduates who attend prestigious universities.
