Mission Statement

St. Anthony is a Christ-centered Catholic School and community dedicated to promoting an environment that nurtures and encourages each child to become a learner.

Philosophy/Belief Statement

St. Anthony affirms parents as the first and primary teachers of their children. We seek to assist them in their role as Christian educators by providing an environment that is Christian in its values, creative in its education and individualized in its instruction. We emphasize the education of the whole child through spiritual, academic, psychological, social, cultural and physical development.

Spirituality

¨ The school is founded on the truths and traditions of Catholic Christianity.

¨ Students learn the life and teachings of Our Lord, Jesus Christ.  The faculty and staff seek to model the Christian approach in dealing with life issues and teaching the importance of values and respect.

¨ Students pray together in class and worship on a weekly basis with the parish.  Students are responsible for the readings and leading the singing at these weekly Masses.

¨ Students who are practicing Catholics receive sacramental preparation in collaboration with the parish Religious Education Program, in the second grade for First Holy Communion and in the fourth grade for First Reconciliation.

School History

¨ Is a PreK-8 Catholic Elementary School founded in 1922 under the direction of the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  St. Anthony is recognized by area Catholic High Schools for its excellent academic preparation and values in education.

¨ Is authorized to operate by the Archdiocese of Portland and is managed by the Pastor of St. Anthony Church and the Principal of St. Anthony School.  An elected School Advisory Council serves in an advisory capacity.

¨ Has strong parish support both philosophically and financially.

¨ Has a campus with a playground, newly remodeled Middle School and computerized library/media center and a new gymnasium.  Due to rapid growth in the Tigard area, the school has ongoing plans for short and long-term expansion and enhancement.
