Philosophy/Belief Statement:

We believe that our project-based instruction allows students to demonstrate a depth of knowledge and bring their creativity alive.
We believe that the arts (performing and fine) are integral to an effective school program.
We believe that Core Virtues are important for students to internalize and to demonstrate daily.
We believe that the needs of ALL students must be met, whether through remediation or challenge.
We believe that parents are vital to the success of students.

School Accountability: Since the state began rating schools, JMCA has consistently been rated as a "PERFORMANCE" school. In 2017, the school was awarded the Governors Distinguished Improvement Award.
Notes/School Information:

JMCA utilizes Core Knowledge curriculum through project-based instruction (hands on, participatory) in a school serving children in grades K-8. It is the only charter school within Districts 3 and 8. The school, located in the Widefield #3 School District, is only minutes from Ft. Carson's Gate 20 and I-25.
Our small size means we can provide individualized instruction. We are recognized for the academic growth attained by our students.
We put the student first and are very family-oriented. We believe that all children can learn successfully but they learn in different ways. We try to provide them with multiple methods. Small class size ensures individual interventions. We are flexible in scheduling children so they may take a subject in a higher or lower grade level. They may also be "grade-skipped."
Before- and after-school day care for JMCA students is available on site and is run by the school. The JMCA Educational Activity Center is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
JMCA offers a FREE, full-day kindergarten program for all children. Our kindergarten program includes:

    • Age-appropriate activities
    • Full curriculum, including science, social studies, physical education, music,

    and art

    • Opportunities for multiage activities
    • Time for academics and time for imaginative play
    • Opportunities for more challenging curriculum
    • Two playground areas
    • Musical performance activities

James Madison Charter Academy is a community of dedicated teachers committed to excellence in all aspects of your child's education. We do not expect your children to enter kindergarten having already mastered their ABC's, knowing how to read, and do math. Our job is to assess each child and develop them based on their specific needs and talents.
JMCA teachers utilize the three learning styles in their classroom: visual (learning through seeing), auditory (learning through listening), and tactile/kinesthetic (learning through moving, doing, and touching).
