Additional Information:

Bullying is the #2 epidemic in the US. All 50 states now have legislation in place requiring school districts to adopt anti-bullying policies. Sadly those mostly reactive policies, though necessary for dealing with incidents as they happen, are not getting to the root of the problem. The bullying cycle starts with rudeness or incivility, escalates to bullying, and then often to violence. The challenge is in addressing the beginning of the cycle, the rudeness or incivility, which is also the easiest part of the cycle to address. Cool Kind Kid supports current research advocating for social competence training as the missing link in bullying prevention.
