Program Information:

What is Destination ImagiNation?
Destination ImagiNation, Inc. is an extraordinary non-profit organization that provides educational programs for students to learn and experience creativity, teamwork and problem solving. Every year, we reach 100,000 students across the U.S. and in more than 30 countries. Destination ImagiNation, our core program, is an educational program in which student teams solve open-ended Challenges and present their solutions at Tournaments. Teams are tested to think on their feet, work together and devise original solutions that satisfy the requirements of the Challenges. Participants gain more than just basic knowledge and skills—they learn to unleash their imaginations and take unique approaches to problem solving.

Who can participate?
Destination ImagiNation is available for kindergarten through high school. A Destination ImagiNation team consists of up to seven students, plus an adult to provide the role of Team Manager. Teams compete only with their peers in any one of four levels: Rising Stars!, Elementary Level, Middle Level and Secondary Level.

Team Manager
Each Destination ImagiNation team requires an adult to take the important role of Team Manager. The Team Manager is there to provide support but not interfere with the team’s solution.
Benefits
At its core Destination ImagiNation teaches students creativity, teamwork and problem solving—essential 21st Century skills. In preparing for Tournaments, students solve Team Challenges and Instant Challenges, which involve a variety of skill sets that include science, technical, engineering and math (STEM). They also gain valuable experience in project management, budgeting, presentation and related skills.
When does the DI season take place?
Our season is closely tied to the school year, which makes participation an ideal after-school activity. A typical Destination ImagiNation team will spend 8 to 16 weeks preparing and rehearsing for their regional Tournament. The highest-placing teams at regional Tournaments can advance to state/country-level Tournaments, and the highest-placing teams from those Tournaments are invited to Global Finals—an event that takes place in late May and brings teams together from all 50 states and more than 30 countries.
Why Destination ImagiNation?
Destination ImagiNation is an accessible program that teaches students a remarkable set of skills and tools that will transform the way they solve problems for the rest of their lives.
