History:
SECY is a private not-for-profit after school and summer program that was founded in 1997. The program provides education, recreational, and character development activities in addtion to an effective parenting training.
Program Highlights:
SECY's Executive Director was highlighted on Channel 7 Someone You Should Know with Harry Porterfield; SECY's Literacy Education program was highlighted in the Chicago Community Trust Annual Report; SECY's Executive Director received the Community Partnership Award from Top Ladies of Distinction-Chicago Chapter; SECY's Literacy Education Program was highlighted in The Chicago Defender in 1998 as a model for literacy education in afterschool programs.Working with special needs students, foster children, and at-risk children is SECY's greatest highlight. The youth in our program have made great gains in academics, positive socialization, and career planning.
