School History:
West Hills Christian School first opened in 1949. It was organized by six families who had been attending Portland Christian School in Southeast Portland and came together to form a new Christian School on the West Side. Now, with over 400 students and a full curriculum of subject classes, we continue our mission of preparing students for their future. We continue the vision, with a recent addition of a new gymnasium and school exploration garden, and plan to continue to maximize the programmatic potential of the school to serve our full kindergarten through eighth grade program.
Our beginnings were small, twenty-one students in grades one through six with Mrs. Mabel Langhough as our teacher/principal.The school’s original location was in the basement of Hillcrest Bible Chapel. It was later moved to two other church basement locations before the present property was purchased and a permanent building erected. Under the Lord’s blessing, West Hills Christian School has continued to expand and facilitate student growth academically, physically, morally and spiritually.
