Admissions Requirements:
To qualify, the following admission criteria must be met:
- GED or high school diploma.
- Passing of at least 70 on the entrance exam “HESI Admission Assessment from Elsevier”.
- Transcripts of previous education as required for point of program admission.
- Proof of routine immunizations with current titers and vaccination including measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, varicella, influenza, and hepatitis B.
- Level 2 state and federal criminal background check.
- Completed DIOT application.
- Completed enrollment agreement
- Government-issued proof of identification.
- Dean of Nursing approval
Application/Transfer Deadlines:
Transfer of Academic Credit
The Department of Nursing accepts academic credit from accredited academic institutions with the submission of an official transcript with a grade of 75 or better for nursing courses or a grade of a 70 or C or better for general education courses. Transcripts will be evaluated for transfer credit and credits will be applied as appropriate. Transfer of credit decisions can be appealed. All appeals are subject to final review of the Dean of Nursing.

It is the mission of the Dade Institute of Technology’s Department of Nursing to achieve excellence in nursing education and public service in an innovative, caring, and collaborative learning environment while preparing individuals to assume roles in various levels of nursing practice. DIOT is focused on contributing to the advancement of the health of the community by creating a community of diverse health care professionals to deliver quality nursing care based on the individualized needs of patients and their families across all cultures, economic levels and geographic locations. DIOT’s focus is providing the foundational information for students to not only deliver direct care to patients but to continue their education and become transformational leaders in the field of nursing.
