Building on a rich Presbyterian heritage and a pioneering spirit, Tusculum University provides an active and experiential education within a caring Christian environment to inspire civic engagement, enrich personal lives, and equip career ready professionals. Founded in 1794, Tusculum is the first university in Tennessee, the twenty-eighth oldest college in the nation and the oldest coeducational institution affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA).
In the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in Greeneville, Tennessee, near whitewater rafting, hiking, skiing and more, Tusculum’s 140-acre main campus is in close proximity to a multitude of regional attractions in nearby Asheville, Knoxville, Sevierville and Johnson City.
Tusculum’s Knoxville Regional Center, located near the intersection of Pellissippi Parkway and Lovell Road, provides an opportunity for students in undergraduate and graduate programs to explore their education in a variety of different formats and delivery methods from on-ground to online.

Type of Housing: Tusculum offers students a choice of 10 residence halls. Each hall boasts a paraprofessional staff that includes a hall advisor and resident assistants who are available to assist with the needs of residents. Halls include: Katherine Hall, Welty-Craig Hall, Haynes Hall, the Charles Oliver Gray complex (consisting of C.O.G. South, East, and West), and six apartment-style residence halls.

Financial Aid:
Tusculum recently ranked 12th in the “Best Bang for the Buck” college ranking by Washington Monthly. Based on need, academics, athletic ability, service and/or leadership, 100% of undergraduate students receive some form of financial aid. In a recent ranking of American colleges and universities, titled “The Value of University,” The Economist ranked Tusculum 7th in the state of Tennessee. With many options available for financial aid, a Tusculum University education is well within reach. Our financial aid packages are competitive with private and state schools. Sports: 63% of our undergraduate traditional/residential population are student-athletes. Tusculum University boasts some of the finest NCAA Division II athletic facilities available and our 24 NCAA-DII teams annually vie for conference and national championships as a member of the South Atlantic Conference (SAC). Tusculum student athletes consistently perform well in the classroom earning recognition on the SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
School Championships:
• 58 Tusculum student-athletes have earned Academic All-American® honors in school history
• Ten Tusculum student athletes have received the South Atlantic Conference Presidents Award, the most prestigious honor bestowed by the conference
• 104 Tusculum student athletes have earned All-American honors for athletic performance in school history
• Pioneer teams have won 100 conference regular season and tournament championships
Majors: TU offers 50+ majors ranging from biology and chemistry to K-12 education and a variety of business programs. Our most popular majors are Business, Nursing, Sport Science, Sport Management, Biology, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Education, and English.
Admission Requirements:
To apply for admission all students must:
- Submit an application for admission, which can be found at www.tusculum.edu/apply
- Submit official transcripts from all previously attended schools**
- Students with fewer than 12 semester hours of earned college credit must have earned (or will earn) a regular high school diploma with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher or official acceptable GED or HiSet scores and satisfy one of the following:
- Evidence of two years of full-time work experience.
- Composite score of 18 or higher on the ACT (or equivalent SAT score)
- Veterans submit a certified Veterans’ Form DD214 showing an honorable discharge
- Current military personnel submit basic training documentation.
- Students for whom English is a second language must submit an official TOEFL score from within the last five years
