Valley Preparatory Academy Charter School

Valley Preparatory Academy Charter School is a K-8 site (K-12 Independent Study), open enrollment public school providing a safe learning environment where students can develop academic and character excellence. Our mission is for all students to become self-motivated, lifelong learners by providing high academic and ethical standards. We believe when character development is taught alongside state aligned curriculum, students become productive and healthy members of our community. Thus, the school's program has a strong emphasis on character education.

Valley Prep offers a challenging curriculum to ensure students achieve academic proficiency in core subjects. To achieve these educational goals, students must agree to the following expected schoolwide learning objectives.

Valley Prep is a member of the PAL League and participates in competitive basketball and volleyball.

Student Leadership, Valley Prep Academy Club Sister(VPACS), (After school clubs for 2011 to be announced).

Adequate parking in the front of the building and on the street.

Students must wear red, white, or navy polo-styled collared shirts. Pants and shorts must be docker-style navy or khaki. Please see our website or request a Parent/Student Handbook for specific uniform guidelines.

In August 2004, Valley Preparatory Academy Charter School was approved by the Fresno Unified School District (FUSD) and began operations in an office location in Northwest Fresno. However, interest began to grow with community members for a larger site-based program. After FUSD renewed Valley Prep's charter in 2007, the school operated as a site-based/independent study hybrid program at the Grace Nazarene Church facility, where it resides today. The school's location represents a range of Fresno's cultural diversity and backgrounds. The curriculum is state standard based and character education is integrated within the core subjects and extra-curricular activities.

After school program (opens 2011), Tail Wagging Tutors (reading interventions), physical education and competitive sports.
