The Monmouth Museum founded in 1963 as a Museum of Ideas presents changing exhibitions in art, history, and science to educate and entertain while providing a destination for creative expression and life-long learning to the diverse community it serves.
The Museum strives to spark the imagination of children of all ages.
In our popular WonderWing, we ignite curiosity and provide fun discovery experiences for the six years and under audience. Our youngest visitors have a magical, interactive undersea learning experience, exploring a pirate ship, performing in a Tiki theater, climbing a tree house, experiencing a kelp forest, sliding down a whale slide, and listening to a moving waterfall.
The Green Arts Studio located in the Becker Children's Wing fosters creativity as children discover new crafting experiences. The Studio brings out the artist in children of all ages as they work with recycled materials to create amazing works of art.
For children who visit with their families and schools, the Museum has developed strategies to make learning fun by employing hands-on, participatory activities which engage and focus young visitors. For instance the Becker Children's Wing's exhibition, "Ancients to Astronauts: How We Communicate" encourages discovery for elementary school children ages 7 to 12 years and their families, as they explore the theme of communication through interactive displays and activities.
Visitors can:

  • Experience weather and learn how weather reports are broadcast
