Additional Information

Days and Hours: Monday-Friday, 9 am-3 pm

Take a tour of the Pearl S. Buck House National Historic Landmark. We offer the Pearl S. Buck: Taking Action Tour and Pearl S. Buck Life and Legacy Tour. Taking Action features interactive dialogue of the Pearl S. Buck House and shares the story of Pearl S. Buck's forward-thinking human rights advocacy for issues that remain relevant today. Pearl S. Buck, winner of the Pulitzer and Nobel Prizes, used her fame to shed light on the rights of marginalized communities including people of color, people with disabilities, women, biracial children, and immigrants. Beyond using her writing to bring attention to these social justice issues, she took action to help those affected. Life & Legacy is a traditional biographic tour of the home of Pulitzer and Nobel Award-winning author, humanitarian and activist Pearl S. Buck. It features a rich, mostly intact collection that makes guests feel as if they are visiting the house in the time Ms. Buck and her family lived there.

We believe:

  • All children should receive education, nutrition and preventive health care to become self-sufficient.
  • All children should grow up with cultural competence to be successful in a global environment.
  • All individuals can improve conditions and resolve problems if they understand and appreciate cultural differences, establish relationships with people from other cultures and build strong alliances with different cultural groups.
  • The Pearl S. Buck House should inspire visitors to embrace and engage in continuing her legacy by making meaningful, lifelong contributions within the community.
Facility History:

The Pearl S. Buck House, a National Historic Landmark in Bucks County, PA, was the home of Pearl S. Buck and her family. The beautiful and iconic Bucks County stone farmhouse contains a rich, intact collection from the extraordinary (the typewriter on which she wrote The Good Earth) to the ordinary (a closet full of board games her family played).

The grounds of the estate also contain Pearl S. Buck's gravesite, greenhouse, award-winning gardens, Cultural Center (a former barn where Ms. Buck held community events), the Estate Pavilion (which houses special events and weddings), and the Welcome Center (which contains the International Gift Shop, the Exhibit Gallery, and the offices of Pearl S. Buck International).
