Additional Information
SERVICING ALL CLARK COUNTY SCHOOLS
Silver State Glass & Mirror Co., Inc., established in 1953, is the oldest and most trusted glazing company in Las Vegas and the surrounding areas.. For over 70 years, we have partnered with schools, colleges, and universities to keep their facilities safe, secure, and looking their best.
As a licensed C-8 glazing contractor, We will meet all specific requirements of schools and comply with regulatory mandates in Nevada. Our glazing company offers our community a scope of work that goes beyond typical installations and repairs. Possessing a C-8 glazing license in Nevada allows the installation, repair, and replacement of glass and glass products, glass holding members, frames and hardware (including the glazing of frames, panels, sash and doors), window walls and store fronts (including lightweight metal installation), automatic and revolving doors, and enclosures for showers, tubs and toilet partitions.
Here's a breakdown of additional services schools would find beneficial from a C-8 licensed company:
1. Safety and security glazing
- Security film installation: Reinforcing glass doors and windows, especially those at ground level or near entry points, with security film to impede forced entry attempts.
- Forced-entry resistant glazing: Installing laminated glass or other materials designed to withstand prolonged attacks, thereby providing precious time for emergency response and mitigating potential harm.
- Ballistic-resistant glazing: Providing and installing glass that offers protection against ballistic attacks, particularly for high-risk areas like entrances or administrative offices, depending on the school's risk assessment and budget.
- Emergency board-ups: Providing rapid, 24/7/365 emergency board-up services to secure premises after incidents like break-ins or vandalism, preventing further damage and ensuring safety until permanent repairs can be made.
- Impact safety glazing: Ensuring all glass in doors and other impact-prone areas meets safety standards like CPSC 16 CFR 1201 or ANSI Z97.1, requiring it to be tempered or laminated.
2. General services
- Door and window repair and replacement: Addressing immediate needs like broken or damaged glass in doors, windows, and storefronts, including replacing the glass itself, repairing frames, and fixing associated door hardware. A C-8 license allows for these repairs and replacements.
- New installations and upgrades: Installing new windows and doors, upgrading existing glazing with safety or energy-efficient options, and ensuring proper sealing and functionality.
- Maintenance and preventative measures: Developing maintenance plans encompassing inspections, repairs, and preventative measures to enhance the longevity and performance of glazing systems.
3. Specialized services offered with a C-8 license
- Automatic and revolving door installation and repair: Addressing the installation, maintenance, and repair of automatic and revolving doors commonly found at school entrances.
- Metal Frame installation: Installing metal frames as part of window wall and storefront systems.
This comprehensive approach allows glazing companies to address the unique needs of schools in Nevada, enhancing security and safety, improving energy efficiency, and supporting a conducive learning environment. Additionally, possessing a C-8 glazing license demonstrates competency and adherence to specific trade standards, which provides peace of mind for schools in ensuring a secure and well-maintained facility.
