Population Served: One of the country's most diverse and successful urban districts, SPPS serves over 42,000 students - 30% are African-American, 29% Asian-American, 26% European-American, 13% Hispanic-American, and 2% Native-American. SPPS students speak over 70 languages and dialects; forty percent are English language learners, 69% are from low income families, and 17% receive special education services.
