Mission Statement:

Summit Animal Rescue Association
(SARA, Inc) is a non-profit organization with locations in North and Central New Jersey. Our mission is to rescue cats, dogs, or any animal in need, give them medical attention, rehabilitate them, and provide a temporary loving environment until we find a permanent home through adoption. In addition, we have hands on volunteers who help NJ residents spay and neuter feral cats in order to reduce the number of unwanted kittens in shelters. SARA has a proven track record for saving lives; through our tireless efforts we have found homes for over 500 animals a year since we began over 7 years ago. Our entire staff is made up of volunteers; we work with veterinarians who give us discounted rates and we do not spend any money on advertising, so 100% of all donations go directly to the care and feeding of the animals we save. If you would like to see cats we have up for adoption, go to our adoptions page or www.sararescue.petfinder.com. We do not have a shelter. All our animals are fostered in loving homes and are brought on pet adoption days to (2) Petco locations. Please see our Adoptions page for more information.

 Get Involved!

Volunteer Your Time: Volunteers are always needed and very much welcome not only during our Pet Adoption Days on Saturdays, but also in the daily care of the cats and kittens being housed at Petco.

Foster Homes: Being a foster home
is a fantastic experience. Foster homes are always needed to work with cats and kittens, for long and short-term periods, depending on the needs of the animal, and the time it takes to socialize them into adoptable pets.

Be an Angel: We desperately need people with big hearts willing to take in an FIV positive cat or kitten. Many of these cats live long, healthy lives. Please note that FIV cannot be transmitted to humans or dogs.
