School History: St. Mary's School was started by the a group of Sisters representing the Olivetan Benedictine Order of Holy Angels of Jonesboro, AR. The nuns began an order in 1887 in Jonesboro. In 1890 they began a school on the grounds of present day St. Mary's School. The sisters served at the school as teachers and administrators until the year 2002. Now the school is run by lay teachers. A group of the sisters usually visit the school at least once a year during Vocations Week.
