School History: The school began in September of 1912 with the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon. Families from the surrounding farms sent their children to the school. There were four classrooms: Grades 1 & 2; grades 3 & 4; grades 5 & 6; and grades 7 & 8. In 1950 a new building was constructed next to the old wooden school that had also housed the parish Church until 1921. The new school was completed in September of 1951 and all the students, parents, and teachers helped move the furniture and books into the new building. In 1998 a modular building was added to the campus to accommodate the growth and the new computer lab. Today the computer lab is in the main building with grades 3-8. The primary grades are in the modular: Kindergarten and grades 1 & 2. Kindergarten is a full day program, begun in 2005. September 2012 is the centennial of St. Francis of Assisi School---100 years of providing academic excellence with a foundation in the Catholic faith.
