Uniform Guidelines:
At Kindred Montessori Academy, we believe that children learn best when they feel comfortable, safe, and free to move. Our dress code is designed to support independence, safety, and readiness for learning while honoring individuality and family choice. We do not require uniforms, but we do ask that students follow the guidelines below:
General Guidelines
Clothing should be comfortable and weather-appropriate. Children spend time both indoors and outdoors daily, including during physical activities.
All clothing should allow for independent use of the bathroom (e.g., avoid complicated fasteners, overalls, or jumpsuits for younger children).
Graphics, logos, and slogans should be appropriate for school. Clothing may not include images or language related to violence, drugs, alcohol, or anything disrespectful or inappropriate for children.
Midriffs, undergarments, and private areas must be covered at all times, including when students are bending or reaching.
Footwear must be safe and secure. Closed-toe shoes with backs are required; sandals, flip-flops, or shoes with wheels are not allowed for safety reasons.
Specific Considerations
Layers are encouraged. Classrooms are kept cool in warmer months, and layers help children stay comfortable.
Jewelry and accessories should be minimal. Avoid items that may become distractions or safety concerns.
Hats and hoods should be removed indoors unless worn for religious or medical reasons.
Montessori-Specific Notes
Children work on the floor often. Please avoid long or tight skirts, overly baggy pants, or clothing that limits free movement.
Aprons or paint shirts are provided during art and messy work, but we recommend sending children in clothes that can handle occasional spills or dirt from hands-on learning.
Special Events & Spirit Days
On designated occasions, children may be invited to dress up or participate in themed attire. These will be communicated in advance and should still follow basic standards of modesty and safety.
