The Nysmith School's mission is to make a World-Class Education A Joy-Filled Experience.  It helps students think boldly, explore new ideas, and enjoy learning every day—rooted in founder Carole Nysmith's belief that learning should be both fun and challenging.

A three-part philosophy: Academic Challenge (moving beyond grade level and tackling complex ideas with confidence), Joyful Discovery (hands-on, creative, exploratory learning that keeps curiosity alive), and Confident Individuals (thinkers who trust their ideas, communicate clearly, and approach the world with empathy).

Founded in 1984 by educator Carole Nysmith to create a learning environment where students could reach their full potential without the limitations of large class sizes. It began with 55 students in a three-classroom building and has grown into a nationally recognized school known for its low student-to-teacher ratio, advanced curriculum, and joyful approach to learning. For over 40 years, families have relocated, commuted long distances, and reorganized their lives to be part of the Nysmith experience
